thorne is twenty-one and a junior at the university of british columbia, majoring in voice and composition. she’s a vancouver native and when she was eleven, her mom died in a car accident. other than her little sister, carter, her mom was her only friend, and this changed her a lot. she began to distance herself from the people who were still there -- her dad, her sister, and her best friend. it wasn’t until she was sixteen that she discovered her love and talent for music. music and her dog, ace, are the only things that she can love without worrying about them leaving her or dying on her like people always seem to do. thorne believes that friendship and love are useless. this might be because people she cares about keep dying or leaving her. she doesn’t have good luck with caring for people.
she won’t hesitate to hurt someone who pisses her off -- not just physically, but emotionally, if she has the means to do so. sometimes, people think she’s insane, especially if they see her when she goes to the cemetery, leans against her mother’s headstone, and talks to thin air. she likes the fact that people can be afraid of her. she can be scary; her ice-cold gaze can kill, and she can come off as either shy, or cold and bitchy to people who don’t take the time to even try to get to know her better. she’s guarded and afraid to care for people, which explains why she acts like she doesn’t. ever since her mother’s death, people always seem to leave her the second that she admits, even to herself, that she cares about them.
it’s hard for her to show that she cares for someone if she does admit that she does; she won’t even admit to herself that she’s afraid. she’s gorgeous, so of course girls will be jealous and guys will be drooling over her; but thorne isn’t altogether interested in friendship or love -- or at least that’s what she tells herself. people that count her as a friend will be referred to as half-friends because thorne doesn’t think she has any real ones. people that she scares the crap out of, or have done something wrong, or just generally wouldn’t get along: they’d fall under enemies. and then there will be all the guys who crush on her constantly and trip over their own feet trying to get her to go out with them -- but she's probably going to end up with shiloh dylan.

at nineteen, we’ve got zaryn oliver. everyone knows her name, and if you don’t, you must live under a rock. she’s a pop=country singer and she’s been famous for three years now -- she got discovered on youtube, if that makes a difference to you. she has horrible luck with people and she can be a little bitchy. she has her reasons, though; just nobody really knows that her mom hates her and she never knew her father.
zaryn isn’t generally a nice person. she acts like it, if she’s in the mood to do so. she enjoys acting like she likes her mom, just to see if she can fool whoever she’s talking to; playing pretend was always one of her favourite things to do as a child. but the zee underneath, the one who will come out to play if you piss her off... that’s a zaryn that you should be a little afraid of. she’ll do anything to get her revenge, including anything from dumping a beer over your head to rhyming your name with something insulting and putting it in song. mainly, she does her best to keep the bitchy side of her hidden. she has her reasons for being mean. it’s not her fault.
real friends won’t be all that common. she’s known for being a bitch, although to the general public she tries to be as innocent and perfect as possible, just to maintain her image. enemies... she makes a point of not caring if people don’t like her -- but if she dislikes them, that’s another story. she’ll also need people who screw things up and get some decent songs written about them. and maybe even a couple of good guys so she can stop freaking out about love. maybe even write a happy song like love story -- except not a dream, because that’s what that one was. oh, and for the record; all the songs i say are written by zaryn oliver? they’re actually by taylor swift. you know, i thought it made sense since that’s her playby.

corinne is eighteen years old and she's a senior at pacific oaks high school. her parents own the prestigious shooting star stables, and she has a bitchier twin sister (rhiannon). her parents want the two of them to take over the running of the family business at some point, but cor is far more interested in helping people. she donates birthday money to charities, manages extravagant fundraisers around town, and takes in stray animals to the farm so she can take care of them. currently, her dream is to turn that last one into a full-on animal shelter. not much has happened to her in the way of horrible things, but that is subject to change.
she's rich, but not a snob. in fact, she's charitable and really nice and selfless. she challenges herself with finding the good things about everyone she meets, and all she really wants to do is to help people and animals and the planet and anything she can, really. people who don't know her tend to think she's a snob -- because she's got rich parents, her other half (her twin sister) is definitely snobby, she dresses well, she models on occasion, and she doesn't talk to people very much, or at least not at school. this makes her tend to come off as thinking she's better than others, but in reality, she's just uninterested in making friends who have standards that are totally different from hers. she spends most of her spare time volunteering around town, helping out with little kids and the elderly and the sick and anything else she can find to help with.
cor isn't going to end up with very many friends. not friends her age, at least. people seem to think she's a bitch, because she doesn't really talk to people at school or anything. but if they were to see her outside of school, they would see how she really is. they might not believe it, though. enemies would be anyone who calls her out on being a bitch, because she's not, and any people who are the "popular" ones at pacific oaks high -- the ones who would probably spread rumours or something about her, just for kicks. lovers... she's not all that interested in romance, or she hasn't been until now; she's starting to like mitch williams, which can't really be good news for her. at school, people who know who she is, no matter how pretty they think she is, for the most part won't risk their place on the social ladder by even talking to her. they're far more inclined to try to befriend rhiannon, who's less socially awkward.

she’s eighteen and has lived in vancouver for her whole life. she only just graduated from pacific oaks high last june, and she has no intentions of going to college; her school life was complete torture. people who went to pacific oaks might know her as slutty serah, a nickname given to her by a girl named tianna graves, who hated her guts for no particular reason. as the third of eight kids, serah has sort of had to be able to take care of herself from an early age. tianna graves bullied her from grade two on -- beginning with little things like stealing her valentine’s day cards and telling the whole class that she peed in her sleeping bag on a camping trip, and transforming into graffiti in the bathrooms -- “down with slutty serah.” as of right now, serah is completely against the idea of going to any college or university. her parents aren’t happy with this, or with her dream of being a famous author, and she moved out into a little apartment. while she still visits her family regularly, she isn’t as close to them as she used to be.
serah has always been sort of a loner; it all started way back in grade two, when the people in her class began to shun her just because the “popular girl” (tianna) was doing it. she constantly has paper and pens with her, and she’s prone to pulling them out in the middle of a conversation and writing things down. she really enjoys writing and reading, and she’s good at writing, too -- she’s written a bunch of short stories and she’s working on planning out a novel right now. serah hates people who see her as “slutty serah” -- she’s never even been kissed -- and she holds a very, very, very strong dislike for rumours and gossip and bitches. she’s a little tiny bit shallow, and so it doesn’t help that tianna always told her that she was ugly. her family isn’t exactly rich -- they lived in a small house her whole life, the parents and the eight kids, and it was always really crowded and they didn’t often get things that other kids got.
most of the people who go to pacific oaks now will have heard of her, or read the graffiti still in the bathrooms, and they’ll probably just assume that she’s a slut even though she’s not. serah avoids pacific oaks like no tomorrow now, but she has no way of avoiding the people who have heard of her -- they’re everywhere. some people will probably try to see past all the rumours and gossip about her and get to know her. she sort of lacks some social skills due to the fact that she’s never really had any friends, and so it could take a lot to get to know her. i’m not sure what i want for love, but any guy who jumps to conclusions about her will automatically be a no from serah.

an eighteen-year-old high school student, wesley is the popular girl; the queen bee. she's just about graduated, and she has been the shiniest jewel in the crown of vancouver schools since kindergarten. she lives with her grandma and grandpa, but she isn't home much, at least not with friends. wesley's parents drowned when she was four, leaving her with a deathly fear of the water, and she hasn't gone in a swimming pool, ocean, or lake since. it would be a bad idea to try and force her to; she's rather stubborn, and she's used to getting what she wants. she'd really like to be an actress, which would definitely suit her. she has a best friend who she ignores at school, and no one there realizes that they even know each other.
wesley is probably one of the most stubborn people you will ever meet. she hates compromising, and she isn't likely to give in to anything but peer pressure -- she will pretty much do anything to keep her social status as high up on the ladder as it is. wes is a bit demanding and doesn't often pay much attention to what other people are feeling. she loves popularity and will probably never give it up, even though she's unhappy. she hides this well, crying at night and smiling the rest of the time, but nobody seems to notice that her smile is broken. to the general public, wesley james is a happy girl with everything she could possibly want and not a care in the world.
she will have a lot of friends -- she has always made friends easily, except that none of these people actually know her. her one true friend is jackson, and nobody even knows that she talks to him. the friends she hangs out with a lot will be popular, too; or trying to use her to get popularity. they would go out shopping with her, be superficial with her, and not know a thing about her real life. they wouldn't know that she's afraid of water or why, and they would never go over to her house; she keeps people away from there. enemies would be people who hate popular girls, who try and force her to go in the water, who betray her. wesley has gone through a lot of boyfriends over the course of high school, and none of them have been good for her; they dump her for her friends, they cheat on her, they abuse her. every time she's heartbroken, she calls jackson, and those are the times when she doesn't ignore him.
