"This night is flawless, don't you let it go..." Zaryn Kate Oliver half-sang, half-whispered under her breath as she walked through the halls of Pacific Oaks High School, her cowboy boots clicking against the linoleum floors. It wasn't many people, she supposed, who could walk along singing their own songs underneath their breath, and maybe even pass by a few people who could recognize that song. But Zee was famous. Known, really, for bringing pop and country music together. As well as for her insane blonde curls -- which got confusing on those days when she chose to straighten it -- and her curious habit of wearing a white (or some other light coloured) dress and knee-high boots.

But now she was in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada -- a place of the likes she'd never lived before, because Nashville was a far cry from Hollywood North. And she was in a high school -- which was, you see, a place of the likes she hadn't seen in almost three years. Why was she here again? She'd been out for a walk and she'd decided to go and explore the school she'd found. Lame, but whatever.

"I'm wonderstruck, blushing all the way home..." The halls were lit eerily, with that dim kind of light where only every third fluorescent bulb was actually glowing. Zaryn listened closely. The hum of the lights was the first sound she made out; the click of her boots the second; the jingling of her bracelets came third. "I'll spend forever wondering if you knew..." And then she heard footsteps, probably around a couple of corners.

As she approached the intersection between a couple of dimly-lit hallways (why did all schools insist on lighting their rooms like this after hours?), somebody came flying around it. With the sound of a loud impact, Zaryn fell to the ground -- which couldn't have been more embarrassing. "God, watch where you're going!" she exclaimed, bringing her knees closer together so she wouldn't flash the person. Her song carried on in her thoughts as she glared at them. I was enchanted to meet you...
